The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMTGT) is a subregional cooperation initiative formed in 1993 which formally endorsed by Indonesia’s President Suharto, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad and Thailand’s Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai in 1993. The overall goal of IMTGT is to accelerate economic transformation in less developed provinces.
Since it's formation, IMTGT has grown in geographic scope and activities to encompass more than 70 million people and now composed of;
14 provinces in southern Thailand which are; Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phattalung, Satun, Songkhla, Trang, Yala, Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Phang Nga, and Phuket.
8 states of Peninsular Malaysia which are; Kedah, Perlis, Perak, Penang, Selangor, Kelantan, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan.
10 provinces of Sumatra in Indonesia which are; Acheh, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Reo, Jambi, Bengulu, Reo Island, Banka Belitung, and Lampung.
